🌗 Gochar (Transits) and Sade Sati

Gochar means the current movement of the planets over your birth chart. Transits are usually read from the Moon sign (rashi), and also from the lagna. Slow planets matter most: Saturn spends about 2½ years in a sign, Rahu and Ketu about 18 months, and Jupiter about a year.

Sade Sati

When Saturn moves through the sign before your Moon sign, your Moon sign itself and the sign after it, you are in Sade Sati, about 7½ years in all. It often brings pressure, responsibility, fatigue and life lessons. It is not automatically bad: with a strong Saturn in the birth chart and steady effort, many people build their most lasting success in this period.

Dhaiya (small panoti)

Saturn's transit of the 4th and the 8th sign from the Moon, each about 2½ years, is called dhaiya. The 4th affects home and peace of mind; the 8th brings sudden obstacles and health care.

Good transits

From the Moon, Saturn gives good results in the 3rd, 6th and 11th signs. Jupiter is favourable in the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th. Rahu does well in the 3rd, 6th and 11th.

Transits and dasha together

A transit can only deliver what the birth chart and running dasha already promise. A good Jupiter transit in a weak dasha gives a little relief; the same transit in a strong dasha can bring a major event.
